The hotel is across the road to the Monk Bar - so wonderful 5 minutes and we are walking through the wall into the City of York. (Hotel is very good, although we had to change room as we could not access wifi from our room - all good).

We waved to John Monks university, walked the wall ( Irene coming to terms with her phobia of not having a handrail and not able to go near an edge with any height ) - we just loved the place. Such history, at times it is difficult to understand how these structures are still standing.

We finished off the day with a lovely meal in a little pub the Silk Oak, talking to a couple from Perth and Peter tasting the local Yorkshire ales ( Ronnie Richardson would like this)
