We went back first to check out the museum gardens and have another look at the old Roman Fort and the ruins of St Mary's Abbey, we wandered with such awe. We did have a laugh, when Peter was looking at the large stone coffins, an English lady standing near him said "I would have hated to be a pall bearer in those days "
We then went to check out a gift fair in the gardens ( surprise - this was Peters idea)and found the ruins of an old hospital with a garden, and they had used parts of od stone for the retaining walls - such good recycling! This was where we were entertained by a little squirrel - little bugger would not stay still for a pic
From there we then revisited the Shambles. Being Sunday not all the shops were open, however that did not dampen our enjoyment.
We then continued on our way and ended up back at the Minster - a truly beautiful structure. We did not do the tour, as it was £10 each to enter, and we felt that we still have a long way to go and o many things we want o see. We did go inside and another time we will see a little more.
We do love York and have had a wonderful two days here
We are now five weeks into our venture and we are still talking. However, Peter who is usually so good with directions seems to have "lost it" He says its because the sun is in a different spot!
All I know is that I seem to be able to understand where we are but......no .......we follow Petes directions and have ended up in the opposite direction - have to say though, we have had very nice walks and we are on holiday, no rush so it doesn't matter if we are geographically challenged for a while - We are having fun!
