We started off the day by walking down to the Notre Dame to take the fourth bus tour ( that we did not do yesterday). This was Bastille - Bercy Circuit. again we thoroughly enjoyed this as it took us to another area. As well as having history with the Bastille the tour also covered the new development at the old riverside docks. This encompassed both residential and commercial. It included the new National Library and a sporting complex that was covered in grass ( not sure how they mow it)
It was nice to see the contrast between new and old , at the and after this tour, we found the bus that would take us to the Champs Eleysee so that we could walk down it to admire some of the gardens and shops.
Next in the agenda was an up close and personal for the Eiffel Tower but.....when Irene saw the crowds, she decided that a view from affair would do just fine. Some people will know that Irene does not cope with crowds - she has been doing pretty well so far but sometimes just had to say No.
We then went back to Montmartre as irene wanted to see the Moulin Rouge again ( accomplished with picture) but again the crowds were so thick we decided not to try to get to the Basillica in the heat ( next time!)
We then came back to the Notre Dame to check out river cruises for tomorrow night and ambled home to a delightful little cafe for a well deserved drink and dinner. Another long and good day had by the Macs.
One other thing Irene has been amazed by is the fact there are petrol pumps in the middle of streets, or there is a garage right in the middle of Paris - there is one just up the road from the hotel and this one below we saw this morning on our travels
Anyway - onto Day 4 of Paris - we are really enjoying this city ( but have been trying to avoid pastries etc - they are so good!)
