It actually took only about 20 minutes and we were inside. We had looked on the Internet for a map and a suggested plan of attack. We found a walk around the great masterpieces - we printed this off and thought goodo , this will make it easy. wrong!!!!!! they were doing some refurbishment - so we very quickly found the suggested walk was useless to us....LOL
Anyway, off we go along with the crowd - we did manage to find our way despite the jostling, groups just suddenly stopping in the middle of a thoroughfare, people elbowing you and it generally being very hot.
The first thing we found ( by accident) was the Mona Lisa - It was very difficult to really appreciate the painting due to the crowd but we did tackle the "scrum" and saw the painting first hand.
After being "crash tackled" a couple of times we continued on our way seeing many beautiful pieces by Titian, Raphael, David, Leonardo D Vinci and others.
We then went to see Grecian Antiquities, Italian era including MichaelAngelos Slave and the last thing we saw was Venus De Milo
For the trivia buffs, if you went to the Louvre and spent 3 seconds looking at every exhibit it would take 15 hours to look at everything.
The Louvre was a wonderful experience but we are not sure we would ever visit again in the "high season" - the crowds were just awful!.

Yes, we were here in 2009, but on a Trafalgar tour - so one of the beauties of the tour was that we didn't have to wait in any queues, we just went straight through and didn't have to battle the crowds. Amazing things to see in the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tour sparkling at night was just beautiful. I liked Paris, but Trevor wasn't particularly impressed - he's not much into big cities.
